Cryptocurrencies are not stocks and the cryptocurrency market is not regulated like the stock market. Cryptocurrency assets are also not protected against losses that result from a decline in cryptocurrency value. Additionally, cryptocurrency services are not regulated in many states. Note that selling and receiving crypto may have tax implications. We will show the cost basis for crypto transactions that start with Venmo, such as buying, selling, and sending, but not for incoming external transfers.
